How can one position for the best assignment after Signal school?

Alright, so i am leaving Bliss in september to attend signal school.
My first question is, when do i receive my PCS orders to Gordon;
and my 2nd question, is how would i manage to get a preferred assignment after my training? I'm not sure i should put all my faith into the Assignment satisfaction key. Is it the Signal Branch it self i have to call?

As of lately it seem that order to PCS/ETS have been getting to SM around 30-60 days out.
As for station of choice, you need to complete your ASK and call branch. When I PCS'ed to JBER I had to call Branch to get the ball rolling. Honestly there's no real guarantee unless you reenlist for station of choice.

Just a word of advice to caveat what SGT Meston says, it would be a good idea to call your current and future branch managers to get you preferred assignment!
