Will I get OHA or BAH while in Basic if my dependents live in Japan?

I am prior service Airforce doing a WOFT package. I am married to a Japanese and she will be living here while i finish Basic and WOBC.
I know while in basic you rate for BAH, but she will be living in Japan, and here is OHA. So what will she recieve? And if it is OHA will she recieve COLA and the utility stipend as well? I do NOT want to get with the "debt" hammer later as this is thousands of dollars diffrence. Apparently no one knows over here. Plan on saving my first few paychecks anyway but i would like to know incase of errors. Any help?

You will receive BAH and not OHA because it’s based upon where the service member is stationed. Also it probably won’t start until you get to your WOC or your first duty station. They won’t give OHA or COLA because your location is CONUS, you don’t have a overseas location that you’ll be attending basic or WOC. I hope this helps.

BAH will start in Basic, however you won’t start receiving the pay until after basic. Also, yes the reg does state it is based upon your dependent location, however you are not in the Military yet. In order to receive OHA and BAH for an overseas location you would have to request an exception to policy because your prior duty location was not overseas. The military pays off of your entry in the military to determine your family BAH rate upon your initial entry. They will not pay an OHA and COLA while you are in Basic training and school. I know you wouldn’t get OHA because you were never assigned to that overseas location on the new enlistment. I will talk to my finance office tomorrow and get you an answer. SrA Maurice Ford

SFC (Join to see) i really appreciate this, sorry for the trouble! Just trying to get things straight because i have been through the finance wringer before. I would much rather need to request an exception, rather than owe money!
