Has anyone actually called or texted the Veterans Crisis Line? What happens on that call or text? Is it truly anonymous?

PV2 (Join to see) if you or someone else is in crisis, make the call. I have not used it but I would accept it at face value.

It can be. You can pick what you share with crisis lines. I called once for a soldier to prove that they're not going to try too hard to figure out who they were if they didn't want to share. They'll ask some stuff but they don't kick anyone off the line for not giving up identifying information. They'll care about where you are more than who you are. It can help to tell them some information about where you are at so they can provide you with local resources but if someone isn't interested in that they'll listen and help how they can within the limits the caller sets.

You can for a buddy and get some help on figuring out how to get them help. You can also call "for a buddy" and they're just going to talk to you and try to help. [login to see] and Press 1 and you can find out for yourself or Text 838255.

The Veterans Crisis Line also has online chat. https://www.veteranscrisisline.net/get-help/chat

Per their own website:

"You may enter the online Veterans Chat and continue talking with a Responder without identifying yourself. You may want to get a referral to see someone in person. Or, you can decide to do nothing further at this time. It's all up to you. No follow-up services will be provided unless you request them."

A long as they can talk you out of eating a bullet, and are not suicidal, no one will ever know.
