Need a little more information in order to answer your question. Are you currently in Korea? Did you family accompany you to Korea?

SPC (Join to see) It doesn’t matter if it’s your first time going to Korea, you can elect/choose to go accompanied (with family) or unaccompanied. If your family doesn’t accompany you, you will receive BAH for your family based upon where they will be living while you’re in Korea and Family Separation Allowance (FAS). There should be a statement in your orders that has the zip code to where your family is going to be located.

If they are with you now at your duty location, then it’ll probably have your current location unless you’re going to relocate them. If you are, make sure your orders say you’re going to assist with the relocation of your family and the zip code to where they are relocating.

If you elect to take your family you’re probably have on post housing so you wouldn’t draw BAH. If on post housing isn’t available, then you’ll get OHA. You will not receive OHA for your family if they are not stationed with you on your overseas assignment.

It seems to me as though the correct information was not provided to you in reference to the type of assignment you could have chosen for this PCS move to Korea. As a married Soldier, when you receive assignment instructions to Korea, you can choose to go by yourself or you can choose and apply for command sponsorship.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you...

If you are Command Sponsored or Non Command Sponsored, you are eligible to recieve OHA.

If you are Command Sponsored and live on post, your OHA will go to Housing. However, if you live off post, you will handle your OHA, plus the extra they give you for utilities.

If you are Non Command Sponsored, you are not authorized to live on post, but you will receive OHA.

If you are married and your spouse is in the US, you will be receiving BAH for your spouse's location plus qualify for Family Separation Allowance. You, as the Service Member, will be staying in the barracks.
