I'm joining the army reserve as a 68W. Once you get to your unit how do you go about volunteering for deployment?

300 APFT. Keep all records up to date. Be the top soldier in your MOS in your unit. Let the CoC And your Branch know you wish to volunteer for deployment. Be ready. My last tour in OIF the SCNG was authorized 30 personnel to accompany 1st Cav for deployment. 600+ volunteered for that deployment. The SCAG had his pick of the best of the best, so be that soldier.

Once you get to your unit, you can do one of two things: 1) Change your HRC Profile status to Volunteer (this just adds your name to a list but with no real guarantee you will get selected). 2) Go thru your Chain to submit requests to see if there are any units going downrange that need medics.
