Is there any way to re class out of a star MOS?

Like the topic says is there any way to re class out of a star MOS, I’m currently a 35N (Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) Analyst) and want to get into 31K (Military Working Dog Handler). At the end of the year ill be up for re classing/reenlisting or ETS. I understand milper messages with there in/out calls, and its a year away a lot can change. I’m just trying to get ahead of the power curve and get my ducks in a row so when the time comes I can make the right choice.

You can reclass, but not to 31K right now. On the first page of the in and out calls it lists all MOSs that you can reclass to regardless of in/out calls.
"SOLDIERS MAY REQUEST RECLASSIFICATION INTO CMF 18, 12P, 25D, 25E, 29E, 31D, 35L, 35Q, 37F, 38B, 46R, AND 79R (SSG ONLY) REGARDLESS OF THE IN/OUT CALLS FOR CURRENT PMOS" http://www.armyreenlistment.com/Messages/MILPER/In_Out_Calls_14_367_20141229.pdf
I would suggest that you stick with your current MOS and get promoted then look at your options. It would suck to reclass then get stuck at specialist for a long time because points are high in your new MOS. In/out calls change every few months, but it is unlikely that 35N will go from an in call to an out call. At most it will move to balanced. 31K is only accepting non-promotable SPC right now so it would definitely slow down you career progression.

Another thing to think about is what you plan on doing after the military and the level of income you want. You could definitely get a job as a police dog handler but your salary would be significantly lower than what you would make as an intel analyst.
If you are just interested in working with and training dogs you could always look into starting a part time business. I knew a soldier who had a dog training company that he ran on the evenings and weekends.

Thats my main reason for Reclassing i have no intention of being in intel after the military. Sitting behind a computer for 12 hours a day has never been my thing.

If you check out the current Reclassification In/Out Calls (HRC will try to publish new ones each quarter) on the Virtual Retention Board (http://www.armyreenlistment.com/board.html).
Under 'Rules', you'll see what MOSs you may reclassify to without regard to the In/Out Calls...currently, 31K is not one of them.

I am currently trying to reclass to that MOS as well. I am a 25B. My ETS is June 2016. I have emailed my retention counselor but have yet to receive any information.
