No, but I commend it if you do. You can stop "basically being Infantry" and be the real thing!

The easiest way to reclass to 11B is get your Ranger tab and it's a Reclass withiut training request. Very easy switch and automatic approval for non promotable E5 and below.

I was a 19k and reclassed to 11b as a spc. It is not hard at all, it can just suck dog nuts if there is no space for you in a later cycle of osut. I waited for about 3 weeks at the inprocessing unit with a crap ton of other prior service/ reclassers. They sent all of us to day one osut and treated us like privates until we bitched and moaned to the drills. They got us hooked up with the 2nd phase of a split option national guard class. Basically advanced us a few weeks by the time it started up. 2 guys got lucky from the beginning and were sent to a cycle that was in the last few phases.
Rambling aside, do it. Infantry is the way to go. Last i knew werent cav scouts goin back to the old army ways of checking to see if bridges could handle tanks and crap like that?

What year did you reclass? And I joined the Army as a 19D from the Marines, I think the MOS is a great MOS I just find myself seeing eye to eye with the infantry guys in my unit more often than my fellow 19Ds don’t get me wrong some of my best friends are 19Ds and even they think I should reclass.

It was 2009 after my deployment to baghdad. I was a twat(hehehehe). Ended up going to 1st cav and hanging out in a scout platoon in the sniper squad for around 2 1/2 years. Trust me man, go infantry. More doors will open for you. They usually recruit for sfodd from infantry. I remember getting emails about them all the time. Like someone else mentioned though, going infantry as an e-5 you have to get ranger qualified. Airborne would be good too as usually privates are supposed to go there. The career map will show you what schools you will have to go to in order to be current.
