Is there any leniency on choosing a first duty station as prior service? What about choosing a job?

I’m deciding to come back into the Army, I know I SHOULD know the answer to this question but, I’m asking anyways. I’ve already read the business rules for choosing a job. Just wondering if it’s the same as it would be for a first time enlisted person.

All I know is in my 16 years in I asked for what I really wanted last out of my three choices and always got what I wanted (because I put it last) HA HA HA, not even lying or exaggerating!!

My biggest lesson that started it all was after serving in the National Guard while I was in the first two years of college, in a Military Police detachment (closest unit to sign up to distance wise from my small military school), I knew I did not want to be accessed Military Police after I graduated from ROTC. I chose that branch last and medical first as that was my goal. My fellow classmate, also in the same NG unit, WANTED MPs! She chose it first and ADA was her last choice. Guess what, she got ADA and I got MPs! WTH. From that moment on, I put what I wanted last. Finally had to resign my commission after my 8 year obligation to the MP Corps and then get recommissioned direct into the Nurse Corps after I had gone back to college to get a BSN. I had to start completely over as a butter bar to get back to CPT in a different Corps, but at least I had O3 over enlisted time to make my pay better :)

I'm going through it right now. Waiting on the date to meet with the MEPS counselor since I already know my only option will be coming back active as 11B. I'm hoping I get a Duty station preference but chances are slim. Nobody can tell you exactly until you meet with the Counselor at MEPS. The recruiter I'm working with said his last prior service guy got to choose from a handful of duty locations and that was it since those places Big Army said they needed him.

Were you only interested in coming back as 11B or was it the only MOS available to you? I was a 14T prior but I’d rather not go back in as one. That job definitely was not the greatest, by far.

SPC Cordel St.amant - From what I'm told since I'm already MOSQ 11B chances are 90% that is all they are going to offer me since it is in the prior service business rules. But wont know till I meet with the Meps Counselor for certain.
