I’m getting ready to deploy overseas. For anyone who has been deployed recently, or is now, what is the best way to get internet and cell service over there? Someone recently came back and said guys were paying $300 a month for internet but there’s gotta be a better way right?

Generally, you can buy a SIM card for your phone for the country you are in for pretty cheap once you are over there. If you need a SIM card phone those are also usually cheaply available.

This is not a secure site. In your quest for info Be careful not to tie too many things together, unless of course your unit and it’s proposed locations are known by the general public. Thank you for your service.

From my past experience if you really are going overseas to the desert I have had some decent priced internet and some not reliable internet I had to share with a bunch of other people because there were not a lot of routers to go around camp for everyone. It as all about supply and demand. When you go over there you will see everything is more expensive there because they know you get paid a little more and will pay almost anything for the creature comforts you are used to. That $300 might of been satellite internet they sometimes have. Without getting into details you will only know how it will be until you get there or ask someone through secure channels who is there now.
If you are talking some place like Korea they have pretty fast internet and is more reliable than other countries you would deploy to.
