You were made with two ears and one mouth, listen twice as much as you talk. You have been taught the basic standards by your DS, maintain them. Keep a professional appearance. Stay off your phone during duty hours. Accomplish all tasks with pride as that will improve the quality of your work. BACK BRIEF your NCO or supervisor when finished and stand bye for the next tasking. Ask your 1SG for a 100 ft of flite line. Learn everything you can about your MOS, bug your NCO's with every question you can think up about your job and find out what AR'and FM's cover your MOS and read through them with your thinking cap on. This will show your NCO's that you want to be there and your are taking your job seriously. This will bug them but wait till you get your monthly counseling for professional growth, if your NCO really cares you will be amazed at what will come out in it.

Be on time.
Get a Haircut.
Wear your best uniform and clean your boots.
Render all the NCOs/Os the proper courtesy.
Lastly, follow instructions.

Good luck on your first assignment.

You know, honestly, in AIT I have 3 weeks left. Well, 2 and out process. I am awaiting orders, my whole class is. I have noticed 2 types of people. Those who try and those who do not. It's obvious who those individuals are. But I will say it's not only us, some nco's you can tell the exact thing. I have chosen 2 nco's at my time here and try to take there qualities and add them to mine. But it's sad to say that so many people just do not care and they don't try. My stance is this. I dont care if I'm not doing the "cool"  thing. I'm going to work my hardest in everything, I'm going to display and show the respect others deserve, and I'm going to do everything in which I am called to do to the best of my abilities. I am very excited to go out there to the regular army as an active duty soldier. My goal is E-5 in three. I want to be the soldier who gets the waivers, gets sent to awesome Schools and so forth. I appreciate everyone's advice on here. It's very enlightening and will be taken to heart. I hope to see you guys out there some day.

thanks for sharing, but no, don't hope to see me out there because if you do "out there" is no place fun. I do wish you the best of luck. Just remember you are a soldier first, keep your stuff squared away and I do mean squared away when you get to your next post pick your nco's brains every chance you get, that will show them you are motivted to learn from them which will get you on there good side which in turn leads to faster promotions and possibly cuhier jobs under your MOS. Again, good luck !
