Is there a way to request a specific unit assignment?

I am due to PCS to Fort Bragg in 10 months and I would like to go to a specific unit there. My ERB just shows Fort Bragg, is there a way to request a unit before I get placed somewhere randomly? I have heard of people signing in off PCS leave at the unit the want to go to, is there truth in this?

In my almost 15 years in the Army, the only time I had pinpoint orders to a unit was after I became an NCO, but if I had to take a guess, talk to the S1 in that unit that you want to go and see if they can give you a hand
