If you're assigned to an O3 HHD Command as an O2 in the Army Reserve, does this still count as KD time?

I don't mean to be dense here, and it's certainly an interesting question, however the acronym KD is I'm afraid new to me, I'll look it up, though I just figured I'd ask here as well, no rush, just wondered....

I would not call that dense, I would call that a leader not knowing a current term asking for clarification.

If you mean KD for Command as an O3, not unless you were promotable on the OER. Is HHD Command valid for O2 time, yes, did you lead a platoon?

Sir, thank you. That's what I meant, KD as an O3. I've had people tell me command as an O2 in a O3 slot counts as O3 KD. I haven't been able to find a regulation that states you must be an O3 for that KD assignment to count.

CPT (Join to see) - DA PAM 600-3 lays out what is KD for each grade. You need to call your branch for clarification based on your command and the associated OERs. Due to opportunities for the entire officer population, you'll likely only get one swing at it.

If you have 13+ months in command and two OERs, you should be good I feel you were a 1LTP. Once you are a P, you are managed at that grade.

Call your branch manager and verify. It used to be posted on the CAptains manager's site what "counted". That's what they use to manage you. It's CAC protected so I can't get at it.

Not O3 KD time, but consider this:
Even if you wrap up your first 12 months of this company command as an O2, the OER is still an annual for company command time, and that's what the board will be reading on that one.
Given the choice of a year as XO or year as CO for that company as an O2, you still end up better off with the year of CO time, and you also learned most of what you would have picked up as that company's XO anyway.
