Are you able to negotiate Ranger & Jump school for the Traditional OCS NCNG Contract?

I’m a prior service Marine, and just curious on if I can negotiate Ranger and Jump School to the officer contract.

Unless you are going to a jump unit, airborne is likely not on the table. Ranger school may be possible if you are going to an infantry or recon unit. I wouldn't hold my breath.

No, these aren't like a regular enlistment contract, and there's no negotiation when it comes to enlistment contracts either. If you're going into the NG you can get whatever schools your unit is authorized, willing and able to send you to.

If you are a Nasty Gurl, unless you are in an Airborne Unit, in a coded airborne slot, forget an Airborne School slot Devil Dawg. Same pretty much applies there Ranger School. Of course, you could donate a massive amount of money to your governor’s political war chest and that would go along way to securing a School slot.

Airborne slots, I agree with you one hundred percent. Although apparently some states use slots as prizes for things like soldier of the year, if you aren't in one of the few states with an Airborne unit, you aren't going. Ranger School is a bit different and there are more slots available than when I was in the Guard, although they were just starting to free some up when I switched to the Engineers. OTOH, let's be honest, if you aren't in IBOLC or headed to the 75th, the chances on the Active side drop sharply and get worse the heavier the unit you are assigned.

CPT Lawrence Cable at one time, Ranger School was very combat arms officer centric. If one was branched combat arms, they were voluntold they were going to Ranger School.

MSG Frank Kapaun - In Theory, every Infantry Officer is supposed to go to Ranger School. In practice, there aren't enough slots even though IBOLC (or IOBC when I went through) gets as many slots as the 75th. I commissioned during the period of expansion of the Light units and we were told flat out that we wouldn't get Ranger School unless we were going to a Light Division. The Brigade I was assigned to just prior to moving over to the Kentucky Army National Guard as an Engineer had been assigned to the 10th Mountain shortly before I left. I was told that they had a slot for me if I stayed. Apparently the move to the 10th meant funding for all the Company Grade Officers and at least the Senior NCO's.
When I went through IOBC, all of us were required to complete RIP for Officers as part of IOBC. I always assumed that it was done as a replacement because the Army didn't think most of us would get another chance.
