how do I obtain my 20 year letter? I did 9 years NG then enlisted into Regular army for 12 years after. Am I still eligible for NG retirement?

SGT Herman Wallace If you served 12 years active then joined the National Guard you would have gotten a 20 year letter when you reached 20 creditable years. Since your last service was Active Duty you will not receive a 20 year letter from the Guard.

Sadly, no. You aren't eligible for retirement from the guard. This situation is exactly why I won't go back to active duty. I hope you weren't counting on the retirement.
