I will only enlist under this MOS, and can’t talk to a recruiter quite yet because I am not 17. I am required in every other way , though. I was just wondering how long I can expect to wait for this MOS because I know it is so hard to get.

Payshence Cuevas Search on 31K and you will find other posts about this MOS. No one can tell you how long you will have to wait. Talk to a recruiter when you turn 17 for the latest and best information. Why are you only interested in this MOS?

Thanks for your input. i supposed i could have worded it differently but I am most interested in this. Often recruiters or people on RallyPoint say “take 31B and reclass” but I know that almost never works out, so I made it clear I am only interested in initally enlisting as this MOS.

I walked in wanting 31B as my top MOS and surprisingly they only had 31K open and they convinced me to take it because it's so rare. It's all timing. They have a new class of 31K every 7 or so weeks so if you go to the recruiter and have them keep checking for that MOS eventually it will show up. Honestly shouldn't take that long. Each kilo class is 10-24 students, some of which might be soldiers reclassing.

When I was a Army MP, the MOS was called 95B. Most folks think that MP means Military Police. It actually stands for Multi Purpose. MP’s can and are assigned to almost every job in the Army. I hope you don’t want to become a MP for law enforcement. Because the chance of you working a LE position is very small. The number of MP’s that work LE is very small. My MP career had me working military intelligence, driving trucks, being a helicopter gunner, and guarding stuff. A lot of guarding stuff. I worked exactly 8 hours of LE during my career.

Make sure you really know what you are getting into before signing up for that MOS.

As far as how long will you have to wait? Who knows? The Army changes its needs constantly. It can change from month to month.

Regardless of my MOS, I am going into Law enforcement after. Working with dogs seems much more appealing than standing gate guard, so even if 31k had 0 relation to Police work I wouldn’t care. I am ready for the long deployments, training days, and TDY. It will all be worth it I am sure. Thank tou
