How exactly is a Sergeant Major promotable? SGM(P)?

I've seen someone on here listing himself as a SGM(P). A SGM holds the pay grade of E-9. Did someone create E-10 while I wasn't looking? Uh, no. If I can be a WO1 a month away from my promotion date, have promotion orders IN MY HANDS, and still be chastised for listing myself as WO1(P)....uh, no. What gives?
