I just returned from an 18 month deployment to Afghanistan. For various reason, I extended an extra 193 days from my original 400 day orders. With all of my accrued leave and PDRMA leave days, I've been extended on active duty through 7 Apr 15. However, the Army can't seem to get a hold of the orders that it issued me and cut my Tricare Prime to TAMP coverage on 30 Jan 15. I contacted DEERs and HRC about the issue last week (2/9). When I checked the Tricare sight yesterday, I'm completely out of the Tricare system and it asked me if I want to enroll. Having heard no confirmation of receipt for the copy of the orders I sent, I called them today (2/18). I'm needing referrals for health care (besides the VA) and now I have zero coverage. I've been told they are "working my case," and they "have everything they need from me." What does that even mean? Can anyone throw me a lifeline and say it's going to be okay in the long run? This is my first horror story run in with Tricare in 18 years. (FYI, I'm in the IRR, so I have no unit support, no one to turn to other than the 800 numbers for DEERS, Tricare, HRC, etc.)

SFC (Join to see), you're still on active duty until 7 Apr 15? You should be good to go till then, right? With an ID card that shows you're on active duty? Or, if you have the ID card and are not listed in DEERS, you should still be good to go.

If I were you and I needed medical referrals now, I'd be on the phone to those 1-800 numbers daily until I got what I needed -- an entry in DEERS, which shows TRICARE eligibility.

I think it will work out in the end, but you can probably help the process along by explaining your situation to anyone who will listen at those 1-800 numbers.

CW5 (Join to see) - Thanks for the encouragement. I will most certainly be harassing anyone who'll listen and even some who won't.
