During the Civil War, private citizens built and funded armies to fight. Since our elected officials are too busy in partisan fights maybe private armies can more easily resolve the problem.

I'd go in a second. Sure, I'm a terminal private, but that still puts me head and shoulders above anything they have.

Don't underestimate the enemy. The tactics and actions of ISIS suggest that they have some kind of actual military training. They also have volunteers from all over with who knows what skillsets.

I would argue that it would be different in that in the historical cases, after the units were created they were turned over to the Dept of War.

This is definitely an interesting thought Sir.
I just wonder how many private citizens would invest in such a venture. It is definitely not cheap. it would also be extremely hard to maintain.

Of course is that nor what Blackwater and several other contracting companies are? Then Companies like Blackwater get punished for certain things.

You are absolutely correct about the Officials in DC. They are also focusing their attention on the wrong topics.
