Now, I know that for you guys still serving, you really are in no position to talk trash about the Commander-in-Chief, at least not openly. To he honest with you, I've been retired for 11 years and I still will ot do it. My question is more about the value of trash talking. Is is really helpful to no on national TV and claim a political figure does not love his country? For that matter, it is possible that, instead of debating real issues, "we" spend too much time pointing fingers and making silly claims?

Excellent question! Personally, I think "trash talk" has replaced real discussion of real issues.

Just because someone doesnt like it doesn't make it trash talk. It may be a fact that someone else just don't like.

Great question CW4 Ray Montano! The problem is when talking points and unsubstantiated claims take hold of our national dialogue. When Guiliani says that our president doesn't love America, what does that mean? How can you qualify that statement? It's a meaningless statement intended to emote responses rather than dialogue. Giuliani is a trained orator, and as a lawyer, he knows how to make a convincing case riddled with fallacies. So, in fact, do too many of our politicians. This galvanizes our society and creates a climate riddled with and fueled by confirmation bias which is not healthy for society.

Agreed. I hate to see people pass on fiction as fact. These public figures do not understand (or maybe they know too well) that some people never go beyond the headline or sound bite. Last week, I saw a piece (you guess the network) that noted "Outrage....." that Marines were forced to surrender their weapons. During the piece, she quoted "one Marine" that was "pissed off." The piece never dog deeper to see what the circumstances were. Don't get me wrong, I did not like the idea of Marines surrendering anything, but what of their was a reason? I fully understand that I am no longer fed enough information to render an intelligent opinion.
