If you were cutting it down to just what you really needed, which parts would you leave out?

necessary For who? When? The beauty of the handbook is the information is in there, ahead of time. It's there if you need it. If you don't, flip to the section you do need. Checklists are always good to jog memory. Condensed how tos are great for just in case things and things you do infrequently/never but have to be done quickly when it counts.

I suppose this question is relative to why someone gets one and tries to use it. It may not Be all things to all people. I'd say leave it alone. It has a prescribed purpose and just so happens to have a secondary market as a good doctrine/information source. Isn't it's principal purpose to be a course training aid for the Ranger School?

Look you would figure that since the Rangers have in 1 form or another been around since the French -Indian Wars, we would have gotten rid of an extraneous crap before now. Its is the Handbook, for a reason, cause folks do not all know it.
