Have you ever wondered the WHY behind the fight.

Why is it, that the pictures of Service Members of the U.S. forces, Canadians, the Brits, Aussies, and the like are in full view and uncovered, and the forces that we are fighting cover their faces much like any low budget gangsters or outlaw un like Jessie James and or Bill the Kid. The wind will blow dust and sand on the faces equally masked or unmasked.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
  I believe that we are the just armies, from righteous honorable countries of which the most of the populations have a level of unmatched patriotism.  Our leadership is trained and held to a higher standard of professionalism that is unmatched the world over.<o:p></o:p>

SSG McCoy,

Two primary responses: (1) while we routinely operate in full view and uncovered, there are circumstances that call for our own troops to operate with more discretion and (2) we have no reason to believe our operatives are at all likely to be hunted and killed at home. For very good reason, our enemies are not so comfortable about operating openly or their security at home.

With respect to why we fight, we take orders from our CoC in belief they know why.

I want to know why we fight, am allowed to study the question, and comment on it.

But, in the end, I do not even begin to believe I have all of the intel available to us.

The only time I even question an order is when it is a war crime or just plain stupid.

What I would ask is whether you have thought about why we among all other nations lead the fight to defend the weak, homeless, and starving without even considering taking their land?

Taking your old west analogy to task, I firmly believe we are the good guys in the white hats.

Totally agree because we are better than ignoring the suffering of other people.

I would suggest that almost all rank-and-file service personnel are caring.   They are loyal just as we are.   I totally disagree with the President when he intimated that there is no exceptionalism.  And while those soldiers many times were just doing their jobs most had no idea of the mechanics behind the scenes. I am sure that all presidents and President Obama is one of them,  when the see the bottom-line.   Realizing foreign affairs is not as easy in they seem to be in politics.   Our military leaders have to react to the unpredictable.    There are times when we see our sworn enemies are honorable and to a person who is honest a certain amount of respect and discipline.
