I am currently finishing up my bachelor's in criminal justice and have been accepted in the master's program in order to get my MS in forensic science. In addition, I am an MP in the Reserves and a cadet in ROTC. I was 2 points off from the 110 GT score needed for warrant officer school, which is why I'm asking if I should just stay the commissioned officer route or retake the ASVAB in order to receive that GT score for warrant officer school.

No, Officers are in the admin positions only. They have nothing to do with investigations . Enlisted and Warrant Officers

CID often has an officer to WO Special Agent option, but not sure if its currently available (check the CID website). May I ask why you want to go CID? I ask only because U.S. Army Counterintelligence (CI) also has Special Agents, and in CI, Regular Officers can become certified Special Agents as well.

I was not aware that CI had a agent component to it, that is why I wanted CID in addition to continuing my career in the MP Corp. Thank you for the insight sir, I'll be sure to check it out.

Richard Washington we have the "O to WO" program where you'll come into CID as a W2 (W2s are commissioned officers, WO1s are not)... so you'll retain your commission. If you really want to be a criminal investigator and plan on staying in the Army, it's a great career path. The call for Os to WOs comes out every now and again... not sure if it's currently open. I believe you have to be a Captain (non-p). Don't let anybody convince you NOT to do something especially over a stupid internet message board. Look into the program for yourself and determine if it's right for you. Best wishes.

Back in the day, before Ws had commissions, there were MP officers that commanded CID units and I think help positions in CIDC when it formed. Not sure what structure is now.
