She’s a system administrator and is having problems locating a job before we arrive. Does anyone or anyone’s spouse in the same field have any advice on finding a job preferably on post?

Ask your sponsor which contractors might have offices on or near post. Often they have jobs available. For on base (government) you need USAJOBS.com set up with a resume and then she can search for jobs at the new location. The family support center might be helpful as well. Actually getting a job offer before arrival is tough

Unfortunately still have not received a sponsor. Have a million questions waiting for whoever it is to make sure transition is easiest for the family.

I would try Indeed.com or USAjobs.com. Hopefully something comes up. They do have job fairs on post here.

Roger. Just trying to get ahead of the curve and seems like they won’t hire you or even acknowledge you until you are present in bliss. Thank you though.

Yeah the Army hasn’t quite caught up to the real world idea that most families are a two income family. There’s not much available help for spouses in job placement prior to arriving that I know of. SSG (Join to see)

As a military wife with a degree in accounting, what I did is take the government test for this particular field. I scored really really high, so I was able to pretty much go wherever my husband went with a job already in hand. As a programmer...I'm sure she can probably do this as well...not sure though. I was able to work overseas, stateside...wherever during his 20+year career. As with everything, there are rules to follow, at the time I was only allowed to refuse one assignment (job) so be careful.
