How does the transition from flight warrant to police helicopter pilot work?

How does the transition work? Does anyone or knows anyone that has actually done this transition? If so, what did you do to prepare to transition? Any education requirements? Thank you all for your time

I did work as a police helicopter pilot for six years. It was a great job with many rewarding experiences, similar in some aspects to the Army. That said, I was a rotor wing Airline Transport Pilot with over 7000 flight hours when I was hired. The unit I flew with preferred hiring professional pilots as opposed to training law enforcement officers to fly. Most police flight units train law enforcement officers to fly. If you can get your civilian certificates before applying I'm sure it would make you stand out as a candidate. Good luck.
