How long does it take for a service member to discharge on a chapter 5?

My husband and I are both active duty but he plans on getting out on the chapter 5 to take care of our son.

All administrative separations are different and can have various timelines. Make sure you have several tentative plans to cover you in any event.

In order to get chaptered out under 5-8, he has to prove his parental obligations interfere with his military responsibilities. Just something to keep in mind.
