If you're looking for additional physical exercise outside of PT hours, just be sure to let your DS's know, with passion and assertiveness, that you want to PT more. If you're lucky, they may be inclined to rally your fellow BCT attendees to participate with you. It's a win-win for everyone!

It all depends on your definition of “workout.” There is no gym available to you during BCT. You may have a few extra minutes here or there to do some additional PT on your own but you will be doing PT everyday with the BCT Company.

CPT Lawrence Cable very true indeed. I did say he may have a few minutes here or there...it’s been almost 20 years since I went to basic but later in the cycle we usually had a few minutes after training and before lights out to write a letter or have “personal time.” When I say a few minutes this was usually 5-10 minutes.

MSG (Join to see) - I was one of the very early OSUT classes at Ft. Benning, Harmony Church D8-2, so longer than 20 for me. Yep, that's about what I remember, "personal time" was that 10 minutes between squaring away your gear for the next morning and lights out. The first six weeks, the barracks smelled like a BenGay factory. I don't think many of us felt we needed additional PT.

Oh boy oh boy
I don't know what basic is like today, but in 2004 you did not have time to think about extra pt. Days went like this:
0530: wakeup
0531 - 0532: drill sergeants yelling and throwing trash cans and making sure everyone was up and moving to formation
0515: pt, smoking that one private, pt, smoking everyone because of that one private
0700 - 0702: eat breakfast at mach 20
0715 - 0830: shower and clean everything...oh that's not clean? everyone gets another 40 minutes of smoking
0830 - 1230: smoking here and smoking there
1230: eat lunch at mach 10
1230 - 1700: more smoking cause why not?
1700 - 1720: more time to eat dinner... yayyyy
1720 - 2000: MORRRREEEE pt
smoking = lots of pt while getting yelled and and told things like your mother should have swallowed you
Basically, basic training is all day exercise. All day e'ery day, private.
