Are there certain formulas and variables I should prepare myself on for the BMST? How long should I take to prepare?

I went to take a tabe test today and did pretty well on it from what the civilians told me. They gave me information and websites to help me study and prepare for the BMST. My friends and family are all math geniuses, unlike me, and suggested I look at Khan academy for all the curriculum. I assume the testing environment is pretty strict and they tell me about 70% of those who take it fail. Are there certain formulas and variables I should prepare myself on? I've never taken any physics or trigonometry classes so how long should I take to prepare myself to take the test?

This is what I was able to find.
"Basic Math and Science Proficiency Test (BMST) is a 100-question multiple choice (four answers/question) test covering algebra, geometry, trigonometry and basic (high school) physics (mostly electrical and mechanical)."
Check with your local education center.

I took the BMAST around 10 days ago. It's possible your education center doesn't have a copy of the test, as it's not a very common test that's taken. The education center requested the test directly from the school http://www.usace.army.mil/PPS/Pages/Mission.aspx. I couldn't find any study material, but after taking the test I will say it is quite challenging. I recommend brushing up on your algebra and basic pre-calculus(sine,co-sine, tangent). Take a begginer's algebra college course, or visit http://www.purplemath.com and learn all of the subjects. It's definately important to understand the algebraic properties(distribute, commutative, associative), equations involving fractions (multiplication, division). Also study quadratic equations (equations dealing with variables). Example: 3x^4+3x^2-9x=4x^4-2x^2+6x-10.....solve for x.

It’s tough to advise people on what to study for when taking the BMST. I took the test about 2 years ago and there’s a lot of questions from many different subjects. It took me the full allotted time to finish the test and I barely passed the minimum. I did not study before hand though and I hadn’t taken any Math courses for about 10 years before that. Khan Academy is a great source to learn/refresh on math concepts. If you’ve never had a physics or trig class, I would start studying there. If you have any additional questions, feel free to pm me.

SGT (Join to see) - If it is a test required for an enlisted job or civil service, chances are there is commercial study guide. When I googled it, didn't find so much a great study guide but a lot popped up.
