I am an 18 year old high school student and wanting to enlist as 19D Cav Scout. Is there anything I need to know before I go?

When I was a young Ranger and I was on the Pre-Ranger Land Nav course with a couple of SF guys I asked them about Land Nav. Old School SF guys were awesome at Land Nav back in the day.
He said, "There are three rules of Land Nav. Always know where you're at. Always know where you're going. Always look good getting there."
Then he put his sunglasses on and walked away like a boss lol
