Yeah, I can relate! Spent 9 years as a Hospital Corpsman and when I got out I ran a lab for Louis Rich testing turkey parts, blood, serum, sinus fluids etc. Even went on sites and collected specimens. Did all the logs on all the incubators, everything. I think I made 8.00/hour. If I was lucky. Even did serial dilution for a strain of poultry influenza!

And to think the Navy didn't know what they had!

Lack of civilian certifications to what we are actually trained to do in the military. I have an EMT certification, thats great, now I can make $10/hr driving an ambulance.
