I have been passed around through the different shops in my unit, including a trip back to retention and several phone calls with HRC, but no one seems to be the right party to handle that inquiry. I just get told to call my S1, or something to that effect. Something I'm more willing to accept is that I was also promised that the Army would pay off my student loan debt. My contract stipulates that these will not be paid until February of 2020, but I have been havi g to pay on my loans until then and now they're almost paid off.

They will only pay off the amount of loans still present. So if you got 50k student loan repayment and you only owe 20k in student loans then they will tax the amount they pay on the loans as income and anything over that amount left after pay off you don’t get. Crappy isn’t it? Also crappy student loan repayment bonuses are treated like income since you are essentially paying the government your bonus.

Oh yes and most of the time it’s not what you know or what the regulations say, but I’m more often knowing the right person to make something happen PFC Jeffrey Herrington

There is no reenlistment incentive that includes student loan repayment. That's probably why people are confused as to who is responsible for handling it, because you're not telling them the correct information.

What exactly happened, what did you do, when did you do it, and who (specifically who - rank and job title) told you what?
