Hi Sir/ Ma'am,
I just would like to know if it will going to be difficult for me to get back into the Army with a history of quitting back in 2016. My RE-Code is 3 and I have spoken with many recruiters and station commander as well and they all have the same answer - YES unless with health issues which I don't have. With that said, I have questions to ask regarding my situation:
1. Is it going to be difficult for me when I go back to OSUT?
2. Will my platoon Drill Sergeants can find out that I quit? Are they going to interrogate me why I came back and why did I quit?
3. Is it going to affect my promotion from E-4 to E5 or applying to OCS after basic?
I would greatly appreciate any thoughts, ideas, opinions and suggestions regarding this. Thank you in advance!

1. Going back to OSUT again will only be as difficult as you make it.
2. Your Drill Sergeants will have no idea you quit the first time unless you tell them. To avoid interrogation on the subject, just don't bring it up.
3. It won't affect your promotion from E-4 to E-5. It will be a non-factor, because this would be a fresh enlistment period. Besides, you didn't finish training last time, so you were never MOS qualified or assigned to an active Army unit. You are what is called Glossary Non-Prior Service. You will in essence be treated like the first go around didn't exist after the waiver is approved, if it does get approved (no guarantees)!

Best answer so far. The one thing I will add that in USAREC parlance an ELS means the recruit did not spend enough time the first time on Active Duty for his Chain of Command to give him a fair evaluation so he was seperated without an evaluation beyond the RE code which is only temporary for the min period that has to elapse before he can attempt enlistment again (forget what that is but I think it was 6 months for ELS). Otherwise the RE Code is meaningless.

Mack Martin - Jr. Enlisted.... wow, and just like that I was demoted... Martin, if you're serious about the Army, learn the rank structure. I might just barely...by a thin thread be an NCO, but I am... and I worked my ass off to get there... best of luck my friend.

You enlisted in 2016 and quit. Why? Do not enlist again unless you have a different attitude. Once you commit to something you see it through. Quitting is not an option, or do not enlist.

I didn't realize you could "quit". multiple reasons you could be kicked out or wash out but I didn't think they just let you quit.

It happens all the time, unfortunately. The cadre attempt to resolve any issue that might be the driving factor, but the bottom line seems to be “if you don’t want to be here, we don’t want you here”

RE3... BN Commander can approve it. Usually, the Company Commander will Interview the applicant and make a recommendation. I’m guessing that, because mission drives everything, it’s usually a given that it will get approved. As long as they haven’t gotten into any legal trouble since. Most have a sob story about “I missed my mommy/girlfriend/dog/whatever, but I’m more mature now”LTC (Join to see)

I could see going up to my Sr DI and telling him I was done here. After he was done laughing he’d start cussing then he would have dumped me into Motivation Plt to see the error of my ways, and my stay on PI would have been much longer. Who would do that? Go home in disgrace and explaining to your friends a family you quit and couldn’t hack it. No thanks, you’d forever be the town clown.
