Share your RDI or DUI below. Thank S1Net for broadcasting this. Now you can affiliate with your branch-specific regiment, or any unit with which you have successfully served.

When I transferred to 90A I was automatically affiliated with the Transportation Corps. It's not that I don't want to affiliate with my new community, but I like that I can now affiliate with the 505th PIR with which I served in combat.

The one lingering question in my mind is how boards see this. Is it considered disloyal by some to affiliate with a past unit when you belong to a branch-specific corps?

I currently have the MP regimental affiliation. I prefer to wear either my regimental crest for 1/162 Infantry (they were decommissioned in 2006), or my active duty regiment, 3/27 Infantry (alas, they too were decommissioned in 1994). We used to have a TAG who pushed everyone to wear an Oregon Guard regiment RDI, or for those like MP's or others who have a regimental RDI, their branch/MOS RDI.

I spoke with branch and was told their interpretation is that affiliation isn't really a thing anymore, based off the regulation (AR 600-80?) for the regimental program being superseded by the update. Can't find that reg on AKO anymore.

AR 670-1 says to look at DA PAM 670-1 for the process to wear RDI/DUI and it doesn't say anything about 4187s or orders. It just gives guidance on which ones you can wear: MOS, current/previous assignments. Kind of like a combat patch, wear what you want as long as you can back it up.

For the time being, I think I might still wear the QM RDI on B's (no other branch insignia) and for DA photos (to keep from looking "disloyal"). But, in A's or mess dress wear the crest for previous units that mean a lot to me.
