Question does anybody know what it's like being an FHP trooper in Florida? How hard is it to get hired?

a lot will depend on your -- work history / education / background investigation ( I am sure ) / tests will be required-your placement on those and drug tests too

I worked with a guy from FHP in the late 90s. He went to work for a County Sheriff because other LE agencies always had better equipment than him, and his backup could be up to 30 minutes away (his words). Keep in mind in Florida Sheriff's are the top Law Enforcement, not State Troopers. State Troopers in Florida in the simplest of terms are Traffic Cops. Pretty much their entire mission is enforcement of traffic code on State Roads and Highways. That is where their jurisdiction begins and ends.
