Yes, and fairly often there are position openings noted on the Government run websites such as USAJOBS. The U.S. Border Patrol, very often will accept entry/trainee candidates and a knowledge of Spanish is quite helpful. I was a GS0081 Firefighter, the current requirements are a bit higher to qualify but still achievable with Volunteer Training and Service. Much depends upon what opportunities you are looking for. I also earned a Commercial Driver's License while on Active Duty and even if you only driven a 2.5 or 5 ton truck some trucking companies will take you on through an apprentice & training program with the proviso that you past the State CDL examination.

Another aspect is DoD NAF or non appropriated funds positions these are often Seasonal in some locations but the managers will rotate the employees through various seasonal positions. Assistant Greenskeepers in the summer to ski lift operators and snow makers in the winter and even Bowling Alley Managers fall under NAF.

Again much depends upon how you view your skill sets and how capable you are parlaying Army skill codes into English.

Civilian wise, nationally many Law Enforcement Agencies and Fire Departments will have open applications for all candidates. You'll need to pass a civil service exam, and undergo a background check before going to the various Academies or Training Programs offered. Some cities do pool resources to offer a local training academy with instructors who are nationally certified and you also earn college credits while in training.

Looking for part time while attending College? School Bus/Bus Companies such as Laidlaw might be the place to earn part time income. I actually drove School Bus for a short period. As I attending College full time. Morning runs worked well while attending late morning and afternoon sessions.

Currently with the Covid 19 Pandemic, offerings may be tight. but depending upon where you are some businesses are begging for workers. But those are also some of the less desirable environments such as chicken processing plants and slaughter houses. But may tide you over until something you prefer opens. I say that because even in lean times being able to show a solid work history may say more to the people in Human Resources than the person who collected un-employment.

Much really depends upon what you are looking for.
