Since people are people and want to see things in writing, is it regulation or local policy that forbids wear of the PT uniform while operating a tactical vehicle?

I’ve looked where I know to look and don’t see anything.

Local policy / Commander discretion. There is no regulation that states a PT uniform cannot be worn while operating a tactical vehicle.

What I would like to know, why in the hell would anyone want to wear a PT uniform in a dirty tactical vehicle?

One time when I was jr enlisted in the guard after I had changed from uniform I was told to go get gas in the deuce and a half and we believed you needed to be in uniform. They had fuelers so all I had to do was pull up. I threw on a brown uniform t-shirt (1994) and drove my happy ass in shorts to get gas. I still like to think I can think outside of the box like that today however the Army has collectively gotten dumber and less trusting.

MAJ Byron Oyler I think the situation that brought this up was caused by people wanting to be individuals and wanting to take the easy way out. These new PT uniforms would go up like a dry pine tree if something happened.

And they weren’t just going to get gas. They were making a 60 mile round trip.
