I have been watching TOD for deployment opportunities for my AOC but haven't seen anything come up. I have seen some immaterial missions open up. Is it better to wait for something with you AOC or to grab what you can? I am also going to upload a resume to TOD. Had anyone had any luck doing that?

I have done both. If you are interested in deploying, volunteer (TOD/WIAS). You are usually going to a unit that actually needs the assistance, and are very appreciative of the help (as long as you can do your job). You also can end up in an all volunteer unit/TF, which is great, because everyone actually wants to be there.

Did you submit a resume, or just scour TOD regularly?

I am active, so TOD doesn't apply to us, we use WIAS. In my situation, I was recommended by someone in my chain to fill any available deployment positions for my MOS. Once one became available, I accepted it and received orders.

If you are hankering for a mission, grab what you can.

The right mission may never come. Go for an 01A slot that sounds interesting

I haven't really been waiting for the perfect mission. I have been wanting to deploy to do my job(AOC), I know there are missions out there but I never see anything. But recently I have been not only doing my AOC but command and LNO work and that got me thinking I have more skills and abilities than defined by my AOC. That and my Guard is very small with almost no deployment opportunities for me.
