My youngest son just left for basic training to Ft Sill Oklahoma. He is supposed to do 10 weeks there, then move on to ft Gordon for AIT. He signed up for 25s mos. He also is supposed to receive a signing bonus. We just got our second set of letters from him today. It seems he cut open his knee in a fall. No big deal usually, but it is now infected and has been diagnosed with a cellulitis infection. He was supposed to do a follow up appointment last week. He said that if they don't release him, they would recycle him.
My question is this: how does this affect his AIT? He has a report date for AIT already....also, how.would this effect his bonus? I called his recruiter, but he is new and said it "shouldn't" effect anything, but he wasn't sure.

His dates would all get shifted. After he graduates basic training he will be enrolled in the next 25S class. This will not affect his bonus as he is still (theoretically) fulfilling his obligation.
If the contract bonus is for 25S and he doesn't pass that class then the bonus would be affected or if his injury gets worse and he cannot continue to train. As of right now, he's just been a little delayed.

if he is recycled then all bets are off for mos / duty assignment / bonus his end of the contract is not fulfilled - if he can finish on time then he may keep it all together

I don't believe that. It's one thing if the trainee is screwing up, another if he gets injured through no fault of his own.

Yea, this is wrong. If he finishes training nothing will be affected.
