There have been suggestions that India should increase its role in the South China Sea, another region that has seen salami slicing by China. Argument is that this would put pressure on China as it eyes to change status quo along LAC (Line of Actual Control).

India has no claim in the SCS so why should they begin to stick their nose into a conflict in which they stand absolutely no chance, especially if they cant event remember to close the hatch of a brand new submarine. If India was a claimant state, it would be different, but you are not.

India is not a claimant of the SCS so what good would India getting involved with China would that do? If India was to put their nose into the SCS dispute, what do you believe would happen given the LAC conflict and India’s no first use policy and China not maintaining such policyCPT Gurinder (Gene) Rana

SSG (Join to see); China threatens India to invade and occupy its sovereign land on four to five fronts. Twenty Indian troops are martyred, including their CO. China continues threatening India's sovereignty and national security. India increases its land and air assets in forward bases to match China's deployment in the Ladakh region. Then, after high level negotiations fail due to China's connivance, the Indian political leaders issue a warning to China.

In the meantime, the U.S. enters the SCS and conducts exercises at sea, for which China issues a warning and, which warning the U.S. gives a befitting reply. The Straits of Malacca opens into the Indian Ocean just south of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which are a Union Territory of India. Myanmar and Thailand border the Andaman Sea. Keeping an eye on China's activities in the SCS is very much in India's interest.

Ok, I’m gonna stop entertaining you because you seem to believe India can do no wrong. India is in a race to compete for regional dominance with China and rush to complete things before they even know how to use them *cough submarine cough* or your COVID post that aged so well. I get it, you have family roots in India, but this specific conflict if not one that anyone has asked India to entertain whereas Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia have requested US intervention.CPT Gurinder (Gene) Rana

SSG (Join to see), this is so not true. In 1962, India allowed China to bully it into conceding Aksai Chin to China. This was the mistake for which India is paying today.

Allowing Pakistan to dictate terms to India was a monumental failure of the system for which India is paying today. If India had disagreed with Jinnah in 1947, Terrorism would never have thrived near India. India has made lots of errors, yet I feel that keeping guard of its borders and of its land is the right thing to do.

I reviewed the entire DOD report on China and what they are doing in the south china sea. This was my final report for my political science class. This is a very profound step in china essentially building naval choke points. The whole debacle of them building artificial islands, so they can lay claim to international waterways is a threat to allies in the region. However In that report no where was India 's naval might mentioned as a potential ally for naval combat against China in the SCS (south china sea). Also it is very likely even for the US' naval might, that it can look very bloody. We would surely need as many allies to help if something did popoff. However many of the island's roles seemed to be intended for logistical, and aviation purposes. Surely we could guess what that means. I think given that India is the second largest nation in terms of population. An enormous army would better serve as an invasion force, while nations of larger naval prowess handle the waterways. Although India having the 7th largest navy in the world partnered with America its partnership alone 'could' be sufficient enough as combined they'd have 710 naval assets. 21 Aircraft carriers, 1 from India. China has a 714 naval assets including 1 aircraft carrier. I hope nothing comes of this. This would truly be a terrible war for all involved. i just hope having all those aircraft carriers pays off.

It is highly unlikely that China will escalate its initiative to the brink of war with allied forces, whether at sea, air or on land.

Please Sir, isn't bad enough to worry about India and Pakistan starting WWIII, without adding China into the mix? I didn't think India even had a sea directly bordering China in the 1st place.
