How hard is it to become a SWCC being prior service?

Im about to transfer into the navy, but not sure how jobs are picked. Is it a good chance to become a SWCC being prior service or will i likely not get it? Its typically an in demand job but I'm not sure if that'll help. If anyone has any answers on this or just the SWCC pipeline in general, could you help?

You have to be chosen for the contract by taking a Physical Screening Test. The contracts are not handed out. Being prior service will not make it any easier or harder.

There is I believe a 6 month school for it now in San Diego. Did not have that when I was there in early ‘90s.
