Thinking about reclassing to 17c and I am open to suggestions for what I may do to prepare myself to take the course.

First you have to be accepted. Do you have any IT Certs or experience in coding? This is not an entry level IT MOS like 25B; if you aren’t already experienced you will not be accepted.

Hardly 2 years so long as you pay attention, study and don't get rolled back. Anyone willing to learn and apply themselves can make it even with no prior technical expertise or learning.
