I had my done at WAMC/Ft Bragg in 2001, and have bad halos at night, to the point where I get wash out from bright lights/oncoming vehicles. Its been documented on all my annual army physicals. Im now retired. I recently submitted a claim to the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) compensation and pension, and then directed to receive an eye exam (via vba appointed contractor doctor, not at the VA hospital/clinic). I was (poorly) diagnosed with 'dry eye syndrome' by a contractor doc who had less than 1 year experience handling claim examinations. This label does not accurately describe my issues and limitations with my vision. The VBA claim examiner then ruled that my condition is 'not disabling' and that prk is an 'elective surgery' thus was deemed NOT service connected. My questions are: did anybody else go thru this process for the same reasons, and what alternative diagnosis where you given that are recognized by the C&P board, and recognized as service connected???
