Mom here (I know, I know - the drill sergeants are his mama now); delays in his mail and just trying to figure out his next steps. He is graduating BCT at Fort Jackson this week. Proud of him. His AIT is 25B at Fort Gordon which a website stated was 20 wks. Does he come home between BCT and AIT? He is interested in the 17C role according to one of his letters. Does he train for that after the 25B training? He had two years of college; computer science; built computers in high school; yes, a geek. Also, not a great letter writer! His letters were about food more than what i should expect. It made me laugh.

Unless he is going to get there right before Christmas Break, then chances are that No, he will not come home prior to AIT. The only ways this happens is if he completes Basic Training quite literally right before Christmas Break or he is a Split Option Trainee. Which means he will come home after BCT to complete his Senior Year in High School.

25B and 17C are two different MOSs, so he would have to apply for it in order to reclass to 17C. Pending that he meets the criteria IOT reclass to 17C.

That is exactly what happened to myself. Finished BCT DEC 3rd. Showed up to AIT Dec 6th. Two weeks later sent back home for Christmas Break and then back at AIT two weeks later. CV-19 now even complicates that process.
