Unfortunately, I don't see our military's ever adopting any .45 caliber sidearm again. This is for a number of reasons to include cost, capacity, and the ability of soldiers to effectively handle it.

The government will ALWAYS fall back to cost as the deciding factor, leaving us with the 9mm again.

I would love to see the SA XDM in 9mm become the standard issue sidearm.

I remain a fan of the 1911 Colt 45....or even Sig Sauer 45...easy to shoot, clean, repair, and real stopping power.

I agree completely. I would always choose a 1911 .45 if I had the choice. Given the reality of the selection process, I don't ever see this happening again though.
