I am soft slotted to PCS to Fort Huachuca as an Instructor pending my sons EFMP screening. The local EFMP office to me is saying there should not be an issue with the screening as it is written up to say he only receives services from the school. He has an IEP which can transfer to any public US school. Huachuca's EFMP office reached out to me on Tuesday requesting clarification as to what type of services he needs. This is all laid out clear as day in his EFMP enrollment documents. Tripler EFMP is saying there should be no issue and will reach out to them. My branch is getting irritated with how long this is taking as its been 2 weeks since the initial request and i am 90 days out from DEROS. Branch can't do anything I.E. report date, change my DEROS, and i can not FSTE without a report date.

Anybody been in this situation before? My EFMP screening to come to Hawaii took 2 days to complete...

If they have the services to provide for your dependent, it won't take long. If they don't, they'll deny it.

That's my experience. My daughter has had a lot of medical issues. After my compassionate trying to figure out where to go...her EFMP got denied by Hood twice. Even after I updated it. Huachuca denied, etc. JBLM ended up accepting it and I got orders there - but again hers is medical and she's had a lot of stuff. I think it took JBLM a week or two to approve hers.

It sounds like Huachuca is making sure they can accommodate your child's needs. I'd rather they be thorough than not.

SSG (Join to see) - What do you mean it's handled through schools? This post is old but...EFMP doesn't go through any schools. If the dependent has an IEP that's the only time I have to talk to my kid's school. The medical portion is done through PCM and any specialists.

Now everything is online though. I just went to do my daughter's renewal for the last time and the medical portion was super quick. Her school we have to do her IEP update (her annual is due) before I can submit to finalize her renewal.

Two weeks for EFMP is barely time for them to open your email. It sounds like the screening portion was completed long ago. EFMP is a black hole. Average time to process is one to two months. IEP EFMP usually go faster
