Not so much of schools but assignments I think of. Special assignments such as Recruiter, Drill Sergeant, are always looked at favorably. What I've seen most of and what quite a few of my senior leaders have told me is SGT Audie Murphy will give that extra boost needed for E7,8,9..

I was told SAMC was good, but if you get it and do nothing with it then you could set yourself up.  As in, you achieve it do you run a study group and assist others to become members.  I highly encourage it, but if all you are doing is getting it to look good on a board consider an alternative.

What my concern is I am limited on what I can do since I am on a p2 profile for no running.

I almost always go back to the MOI of the previous board to see what the board members seen as favorable and unfavorable in the last board.&nbsp; Definitely going to SLC as a SSG will put on ahead of your peer, because you are now a step ahead for the next rank. Now, if you are an SLC graduate, but were marginal on your 1059 it was seen as unfavorable. Many don't know that is, but Battle Staff course is considered an NCOES course, which would make you favorable for completing if you can get into the course (very difficult to get into as a SSG, but not impossible).&nbsp; Again, same rule applies you have to graduate with meeting or exceeding course standards.&nbsp; I cannot emphasize college enough.&nbsp; As a SSG you should have an Associates Degree or at least enough credits to have complete 2 yrs of college.&nbsp; If you have anything over an Associates Degree you are a shoe in for selection.&nbsp; As for other assignments, yeah recruiter duty and drill sergeant duty, even AIT instructor or AIT Platoon Sergeant are looked at favorably.&nbsp; As for military education, last years MOI just stated that any military courses taken towards career progression was seen as favorable.&nbsp; So, I suggest you try to take military course that will continue to fill up the section on the ERB for mlitary education.&nbsp; <br>

Very good advice, I can say I haven't looked at the past 3-5 years worth of MOI for the boards.  I till have a year before I get my first look, so I am right in my window of need to be looking at that.  I know there are changes every year, but as far as consistency I think that what you said is usually on that list.
