How long you had to prepare for the promotion board?

I got to a new unit 3 weeks ago.
2 weeks ago I was told I'm going to the promotion board. I'm a bit nervous because it's a lot of information and I don't feel ready since it's only 2 weeks to prepare. I've never even thought of being promoted to Sgt, I just was doing my 4 years and out but now I have to go to the board.

You're required to attend the promotion board once you hit your primary zone, that's an Army Regulation. You don't have to be selected. You don't have to do well. You can keep going back every month if you want to. If you just want to stay a SPC go in there and tell that to the board, I guarantee they will oblige you and not recommend you for promotion. No need to stress about anything

I was always proactive. As soon as I got promoted I was looking ahead to the next one. Always knocked out my PME at the first available opportunity and started preparing. Never understood those guys who waited until the last minute. I was in Phase III ILE with several MAJs who had put it off. Class was end of NOV and the cutoff for the O5 board was 1st of January.

I agree on that but I never thought of becoming a Sgt because I see the army as just a job that provides for myself and my family. My 1sg believes that I would make a great leader and NCO if I stay in and before I get out he wants me to experience being an NCO

SPC (Join to see) - spot on. I started out as an A1C in the USAF in 1984. I never thought I'd still be around 36 years later.
