For prior service who are shipping out to a duty station, does the military issue a travel voucher before you drive to your duty station?

Do they do a travel voucher before you start driving to you duty station? Or do you pay your own way there and file a travel voucher after in processing to your unit? I should have asked when I was at meps but I didn’t even think about it until now for whatever reason

Unless you asked for and received an advance, it's "pay and chase" (pay the bills then chase down the repayment). Keep receipts for EVERYTHING!

One of two things will happen. One if your flying they will give you flight tickets and vouchers for food. Or two if your driving they will sign you travel leave. If its the second option you will need to save all of your travel related expenses to be submitted to the finance office at your new duty station.
Both options are started on the day you ship out.
