This question is for 42As and anyone who would possibly know the answer. Hi, I’m PV2 Anderson. I’m stationed at Camp Humphreys, 8A HQ. Someone thought it would be a good idea to place a soldier straight out of AIT into the training room. Although I’m doing fairly well and learn pretty quickly, there are A LOT of 42A topics that I don’t know. One of them is intertheater/intratheater transfer documentation requirements. My 1SG is trying to have a SM who is stationed at Osan but apart of Humphreys personnel to be transferred back to Humphreys. He was wondering what was needed in order to complete this process. I tried asking my S1, but they always seem unavailable, so I thought I would give this forum a shot. Thank you.

The S1 maybe busy, but this very thing is their JOB. Should be a 4187 and set of orders. This is basic 42A blocking and tackling type thing.
- processing 4187 personnel actions
- cutting personnel orders
- reassigning personnel inside the organization

I find it hard to believe that if the 1SG wants this to happen, that the S1 NCOIC doesn't make it happen unless the CSM said NO.
The other issue may be they are changing MACOMs and this would "restart their clock" by doing an across the street move.

Edit: AR614-30 Para 4-2 is the authority but doesn't outline "how". The Commander owning both units (from what you describe, same unit two separate locations). The constructive cost of the move is way under $1500 provided it's a barracks soldier. A couple Joe's, a TMP bongo truck in and afternoon can move a single Joe from Osan to Humphreys. It is more of a matter of the documents. Should just be a 4187 and a set of orders directing movement.

It will take the soldier longer to clear the barracks room than the move process should take.

Does the Soldier want to make this move or the Command? Is the Soldier on a 1 year tour or 2 year tour with family in country? The answers to these questions would determine what type of request would need to be processed, what type of order would be issued and who the approval authority would be. With it only being a 8 mile move, it probably could be approved locally.
