Remember. Burial and death benefit applications without your DD214 will not be processed! I speak with too many survivors who have no idea where or how to get a copy. The DD 214 is the basic document used to apply for any and all VA benefits. Download SF 180 or go to archives.gov to request a copy.

One of the best pieces of advice I received from my Personnel Office when I retired was to take my DD 214 to the courthouse wherever I retired and have them keep a certified copy. It's there and readily available when needed.

SSG Noll, you are welcome. I try to avoid telling survivors they have to delay services until we get the DD 214 to complete the applications. It is heart breaking to watch.
