I've already started SFL-TAP. I know like CIF and ETS leave, but know I'm missing some stuff.

SPC Laub, if you plan on filing for any disability start thinking about what conditions you want to claim. Important that you get medical testing and appropriate diagnosis prior to getting off terminal leave. Make sure you have your user name and password for ebenefits.va.gov and va.gov. Do you plan on enrolling into va healthcare? All veterans are encouraged to apply. It is based off your prior year income and number of dependents, or if you have any disability percentage rated as service connected 10% or higher. This aspect of disability excludes the requirement of income being the deciding factor of VA healthcare enrollment. Additionally, if you served in OEF, OIF sometime during your active duty your income is not a deciding factor but only 5 years exactly following your end of terminal leave. Call the VA Healthcare enrollment national call center at [login to see] for more information.

Get a job and see your Reserve Component Career Counselor. If you're going to school, start your VONAPP to apply for your GI Bill benefits and figure out what you're going to do for money and where you're going to school.
Figure out how you plan on paying for health care, I recommend the USAR or the ARNG

If I could give any advice, I would pay Close attention to TAP and VA benefits before you leave the military. Get everything annotated in your medical records NOW...even why you're out processing. Get your resume in order even if your planning on going to college...have a backup to a backup plan.. 'a plan not planned is a plan for failure'. I can't tell you how many calls I received from soldiers after they had left the military and wish they would have planned better.

Out processing will kinda take care of itself from day to day......your biggest goal is preparing for this BEAST CALL CIVILIAN LIFE...dog eat dog.

Good luck.
